City Stars
City Stars Project, previously known as Golden Pyramids Plaza, is an extensive development of 5 hotels, shopping complex and offices in the Nasr City, Heliopolis boundary. Consolidated Contractors Co. and Orascom formed a joint venture to execute this contract with Cassia Associates as the lead consultant.
BASF has supported this contract through every phase being involved in concrete placement, waterproofing, tile and plaster fixing for more than 400,000 m2 of walls, protective coatings for electric rooms, protective coatings to stop marble staining and flooring for car park areas of 173,000 m2.
Rheomix 141M, styrene butadiene bonding compound, was used to solve the problem of fixing cement renders to high grade concrete walls and ceilings.
Mastertile 30M was chosen as the best adhesive tested for fixation of external wall tiles. The waterproof qualities of the Mastertile 30M were of prime importance in the selection of the adhesive.
Masterseal 550 was used to offer protection to the back face of marble fascia to prevent staining.
Car Park areas have been protected and beautified using a combination of epoxy build up layers and polyurethane top coats to offer excellent trafficability and flexibility. Mastertop 1210M and Conipur 258 were the products of choice. The car park areas are being laid by specialist applicator, Abuild, and the first phase should be complete by July 2003.
In total, more than 970 tons of Mastertile 30M tile adhesive, 328 tons of Rheomix bonding compound, and 800 tons of the Mastertop 1210M / Conipur 258 flooring system have been supplied in support of this project.
